The Western Vintage Way

Whether you’re decorating a nursery, living room, or the whole house, designing with the Western Vintage way will bring a warm feeling to your space. Mix weathered and vintage looking furnishings with earthy tones, Aztec-inspired patterns, and a touch of western décor to achieve this rising style trend in interior design.

Our designers have put together Western Vintage looks for both you and baby, so you can be at home on the range no matter where you live. Are you a fan of this style or do you think it should stay in the “Old West?”

Western Vintage Living Room from PoshLiving

Add eclectic flare to your home with these Western Vintage inspired favorites from PoshLiving. Using a geometric designed rug with bold bright colors brings visual interest to this living space.

Mixing in soft fabrics with the leather sofa softens the room, while the weathered case pieces make the room feel rustic.  Unique lighting and traditional art are the finishing touches needed to make this room complete.

 Western Vintage Nursery by PoshTots

We adopted this version of the typical kid-inspired cowboy themed room and gave it a little bit of sophistication.

Starting with a palette of neutral earthy shades, subtle hints of the Wild West adorn this nursery. Accents of vintage-inspired furnishings and accessories are just enough to create this eclectic mix.

Decor8 for Fall

With Fall just around the corner, are you curious what the season has in store for color? We found Decor8 Blog has some great inspiring color trends for the entire home.

Here is our interpretation of a PoshTots Nursery featuring “Clash” – one of Décor 8’s Fall trends – a fun mix of bold and pastel colors.

Our Cottage Beadboard Crib in bright Bahama Blue provides a backdrop for the pattern-on-pattern trend, as shown in these colorful crib linens.

Bold wall color and wall coverings will be popular this Fall also. Create a feature wall by applying wallpaper or wall stickers. Here, our purple wall stickers are used atop Benjamin Moore’s Pool Party. If your walls are in good shape use a high gloss paint for added drama and apply stickers.

Decorative accessories with shiny and reflective surfaces are also stylish this season.  Consider our Capiz Shell Pendant to add glowing glam.

Falling for Flint Bedroom from PoshLiving

{Get the look} – Kaleidoscope Rug – Lincoln Chair – Hudson Street Abingdon Avenue Upholstered Bed – Raspberry Chandelier – Wild Giraffes Original Painting – Moroccan Leather Pouf – Fenmore End Table – Modern Craftsman Cabinetmaker’s Night Stand – St. Charles Table Lamp – Sunbeam Pillow – Bella Fabric – Colette Fabric

This PoshLiving bedroom uses Décor 8’s fall color trend, “Flint,” to add lots of color in an otherwise neutral bedroom.  The Hudson Street Abingdon bed paired with coordinating nightstands sets a warm tone with the dark wood finishes while the tufted, upholstered headboard softens the straight lines of the furniture.

Rich, bold colors are found in the rug and orange leather wing chairs create a nice, bright sitting area. We designed custom bed linens to carry the color trend throughout the entire room using the Collette silk patterned fabric and the soft, cotton Bella fabric for the duvet cover.  Light fixtures really make the room. A raspberry chandelier attracts your attention with its dazzling color and the silver table lamps adding a hint of shine.

Grey is the New Beige (and it’s captivating combined with Koi!)

Grey has become the new beige in all design aspects. It has proven to be versatile and quite a chameleon for changing the moods of rooms depending on its intensity, hue and color companion.

Paint your walls a whisper grey and use pale aqua as an accent color and you will be living in the clouds.  Go for a medium grey, surround yourself with white upholstery pieces and pickled wood to achieve a sophisticated, clean look.

Prefer a darker grey for your walls? Add a pop of color and you will have instant drama. That’s when Koi, our current Fall favorite, comes into play.  Koi and grey are a match made in color heaven!

Nursery Inspiration: The Floor

Hi, all! I’m Mari from Arcadian Home blog, a beautiful place to find lots of decorating inspirations, including pretty rugs and lovely lighting fixtures from mini pendant lights to cute table lamps for the kids’ rooms. I’m so happy to be visiting with you at PoshTots today to share a guest post about pretty looks for nursery floors.

So what can you expect to see underfoot in the nursery today? I’ve brought along room images to show you a few of the myriad of possibilities for adding warmth and beauty to rooms for baby boys and girls. Please enjoy!

Nursery Floor

This spacious nursery is lovely in warm neutrals with pops of pink and lime. The soft brown rug is almost wall to wall, with just a few inches of wood showing around the edge. It’s a stylish, yet practical floor covering for baby’s first room.

A green and white houndstooth patterned rug seems a perfect choice for this pretty little girl’s nursery with light wood flooring. I love the crib bedding colors and exquisite detailing.

Similar Posh Pick: Chevron Lime Green and White Rug

Nursery Floor

This beautiful pale nursery has wall to wall carpeting underfoot—a stylishly simple look with no area rugs. Replacing the more expected chandelier, an ornate glass pendant light is hung low over a tiny table beside the comfy white arm chair.

Nursery Floor

This pretty pink nursery includes another look on the floor—a rectangular plush rug placed atop neutral carpeting. I love the light and airy look of the white butterfly mobile.

Nursery Floor

This appealing nature-inspired nursery has lots of cool woodsy touches. The textured wood-grain design of the brown area rug is captivating.

A patterned area rug can work well in a theme nursery. Here a blue on cream compass motif enhances the nautical look of this design. Pendant lighting seems to be showing up in nurseries in just about any style.

Similar Posh Pick: Sailor’s Knot Rug

A neutral boy’s nursery with touches of brown, blue and green shows how beautifully a shaggy area rug works with wood flooring.

A beautiful traditional nursery for a baby girl with a wood floor gets a warm and cozy look from this wool rug in a lovely floral design on a deep purple background.

Posh Pantone Pick: Koi Designs

Fall is here and we’re feeling inspired! The Pantone Color Report for Fall 2013 has some beautiful selections that have every interior designer and fashion stylist buzzing with ideas. Our favorite Fall color is currently Koi!

Koi, “a decorative orange with dazzling and shimmering qualities, is a statement color that serves as a pick-me-up.” We’ve taken it in both directions: a brighter pop for an exciting gender neutral nursery and a soft serene bedroom for you.

In this gender neutral nursery, Koi takes center stage in bold dots and stripes, while accents with pale aqua and a hint of chocolate make for a chic color story. We selected Benjamin Moore’s Tamarind to be used as an accent color in this room with our hot air balloon wall covering.

{Get the look} – Bukhara Bedding – Serpentine Rug – Moroccan Leather Pouf – Elemental Night Stand – Cabinetmaker’s Telephone Table – Bellini Twilight Sphere Chandelier – Corolla Mirror – Besler Aqua Aubusson Textiles – Bukhara Olive Pillow – Bukhara Rust Pillow – Patricia Lamp – Vanderbilt Chair – White Peony Bouquet

As fall approaches, inspiration for the home can be found all around us, especially in nature.  Koi is the focal color for this sophisticated autumn-inspired bedroom. It’s then paired with leaf green and neutral beiges are used as coordinating accent colors to tie the whole room together.  Dark wood pieces and gold light fixtures add elegant contrast to this neutral palette.

A Colorful Case of the Blues!

To my amazement, this summer my hydrangeas bloomed with full force. I wasn’t feeling very confident since I had just planted them at the end of last fall, but they looked healthy and the flowers had the most intense blue.

There is something to be said about Hydrangea blue: it is not uniform but it runs the gamut from the pale to the almost purple. I love the medium blue and find it very inviting. Apparently, Designer Benjamin Noriega Ortiz is also a fan. The Mondrian Hotel in NYC, which he designed, makes use of that beautiful blue to create a magic atmosphere.

If you happen to be planning a trip to the Big Apple, make sure you sneak in for a drink and soak in this magic blue that does wonders for the hotel’s ambiance.  Not only you will be surrounded by this sophisticated shade of blue; you will marvel at every small detail of its décor.

I especially thought the bookcase display at the café was quite clever with its books grouped by the color of their jackets. This is something one can do at home and reap the rewards of a carefully staged bookcase.

Another unusual feature was the use of many chandeliers to make a gigantic light fixture that sparkles above the bar area.

At Isola Trattoria and Crudo Bar, their main eatery, suspended glass shelves make the perfect display venue for glasses and jars. This is another wonderful idea that we can translate to home décor.

A great way to make your home a step above the ordinary: Be bold and infuse unusual touches in your spaces. The world around us is a great laboratory of ideas. Make sure you take advantage of it by letting yourself be inspired wherever you go.  I will be on the look out for tips and ideas to share with you.
