Today Show Feature: Dream Nursery, on a Baby Budget

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

We were recently honored to work with our friend and new father, Frank Fontana, host of HGTV’s Design on a Dime. When asked by The Today Show to design a stylish nursery for budget-savvy parents, he called upon PoshTots to help pick the perfect products. While we are known for our celebrity clientele and luxury lines, we happen to have hundreds of baby goods that won’t break the bank. After all, just because it’s “posh,” doesn’t mean it has to have a posh price tag!

Here are Frank’s picks for designing your dream nursery on a baby budget:

Savvy Stencils:
We have several stencil styles available on our site, priced from just $10. Create walls that wow with these gorgeous graphics.

Modern Owls in Summer & Fall:
Our extensive selection of amazing artwork begins at just $30 – and there are pieces for every style and season.

Cat’s Paw Blue Rug
The perfect rug will add a design anchor to any space. Adore your floor with our selection of color, shapes and sizes beginning at just $23.

Treetop Friends Baby Bedding
Baby bedding often sets the theme for the entire nursery setting and our complete sets start at just $200.

MTV Feature, Posh Picks for Baby Blue

Babies are on the brain with the recent arrival of a major A-list duo’s darling, Miss Blue Ivy. She is no doubt already the apple of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s eye. As the go-to source for celebrity baby décor, PoshTots has had the honor of working with such stars as Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow and Tori Spelling. When MTV requested a sneak peek at the must-have nursery products of the elite, we put our best foot forward with these fabulous finds.

Dynasty Cradle
This cradle is truly timeless and destined to be a family heirloom with its elegant design. A celebrity favorite and a great way to keep baby close by, it retails for $1,580.

Nava Linens
The cradle’s beauty is enhanced by its bedding by Nava, a go-to designer for stylish, affluent parents for over 25 years. Because her bedding creations are made using fine dupioni silks they are both soft and stunning. Nava has even worked with the first family!

Angora Booties
These ultra-soft slippers are the Jimmy Choos of baby booties and are hand knit from fluffy angora. Rachel Zoe had a pair in baby Skyler’s closet and George Clooney is a fan of gifting this fabulous footwear.

Kumi Kookoon Blanket
Makers of the finest silk charmeuse, Kumi Kookoon is the ultimate in posh baby blankets. They are simply decadent and make a great baby gift. This fabulous Charmeuse Silk Baby Blanket retails for $363.

Limited Edition Baby Carter Canvas Reproduction Wall Hanging
Designed by PoshTots’ exclusive mural artist, Colleen Phelon Hall, this detailed wall hanging is personalized and delicately trimmed with beading. Each hanging can be as customized exactly as you wish. The elaborate hanging featured for Blue is embellished with mini pearls and Swarovski crystals.

Henrico’s PoshTots Stars in Reality Show
by Richard Foster

Call it “Extreme Makeover: Toddler Edition.”

PoshTots, a Henrico County online retailer, is getting a television show on the HGTV cable network. Signed on to co-host are the company’s owner and chief executive, Andrea Edmunds, and lead designer Pam O’Hallaron.

PoshTots offers luxury nursery and children’s furnishings as well as custom interior design services to a star-studded list of wealthy global clients. Its one-hour pilot episode debuts Dec. 17 and will feature Edmunds and O’Hallaron designing and decorating rooms for the daughters of former N’Sync member and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Joey Fatone. Edmunds and O’Hallaron already have filmed promotional reels. Shooting on the pilot episode will begin soon in Miami.

“If it gets good ratings, they will sign us for five to six more [episodes],” Edmunds says. “It’s literally been in the works for two and a half years. About four or five months ago, we got the green light [and learned] that HGTV picked it up.”

PoshTots’ celebrity clients are topped by such A-listers as Julia Roberts, Donald and Vanessa Trump, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, and Heidi Klum and Seal. The company also has collaborated on set designs for television and movies, including the Oscar-winning 2010 Natalie Portman film, “Black Swan.”

The company’s whimsical creations include a pirate-themed room with a pirate-ship bed that appears to burst out of a sea mural painted on the bedroom wall. “That’s the really fun thing,” Edmunds says. “We’re not selling a typical piece of furniture that’s in a box or has already been made. It’s a custom creation.”

PoshTots’ online furnishings catalog features items ranging from a $1,200 Bonne Nuit Cradle in Versailles finish to a Cinderella-inspired $47,500 Fantasy Coach bed.

Edmunds co-founded PoshTots in 2000 and sold the business to an online retailer for $12 million in 2006. She reacquired the business in 2009, paying $735,000 for it after then-owner, the Parent Co., filed for bankruptcy. At its height in 2006, PoshTots was reaping $10 million in annual sales and Edmunds says her privately held company now makes a little less than that.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition- Featuring PoshTot’s Own Jason Hulfish

If you missed Sunday night’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, you missed an inspiring story of bravery. Anaiah Rucker saved her sister Camry’s life by keeping her from getting hit by a truck. In return, Anaiah was hit, and lost her leg. After several grueling surgeries and extensive rehabilitation, Anaiah is now able to walk on a prosthetic leg and returning to a normal life. The only thing missing, was a safe and handicapped accessible space to call home. That’s where EMHE and Ty Pennington come in and work their magic. Creating a beautiful space for these lovely ladies to call home.

We are especially connected to the fun desk, tree bed, and gorgeous mural art done in Camry’s room, by our very own Jason Hulfish. Please click here to see more of Jason’s talented work.

Camry, who wishes to be a Veterinarian, got an amazing animal themed room full safari-inspired furniture and whimsical animals to examine. We expect nothing less than extraordinary from Jason, who donated his time and talents for this deserving family.

Special Spaces

Ginger Rodriguez shares her insight on designing a special needs kids friendly room in her latest column, Coffee with Ginger.

We find that her advice could serve for any type of child, but is especially useful for those with special needs. She suggests an amazing mural or artwork, washable-walls and surfaces, and keeping items within arm’s reach. She also strategizes the layout of the room, to work with any equipment that is needed and also make it so the child has a nice view out the window.

We love the design of her completed room, with it’s amazing airplane mural, super organized closet and fun red bed dressed up with our Jake’s Plaid Bedding.

If you have a chance please read her article on page 30 in the latest issue of Zebra, A lifestyle journal for Northern Virginia. It will be sure to inspire, any Mom with a design dilemma.
